Our Story

About House of Coconut

Born on the gold-sand beaches of the Konkan coast, where the ubiquitous coconut is a way of life. We transform discarded shells into handcrafted treasures — one piece at a time.

The Konkan Connection

Where the Ocean Meets Tradition

Guhagar sits along the stunning Konkan coastline, where gold-sand beaches are fringed with casuarina trees and the air carries the salt of the Arabian Sea. Here, the coconut palm isn't just a tree — it's a lifeline.

Called Kalpavriksha in Sanskrit — the wish-fulfilling tree — the coconut provides food, water, oil, fibre, and shelter. In our workshops, it provides one more thing: art.

Our name, House of Coconut, reflects our belief that this humble fruit holds infinite possibilities. Every shell we rescue from waste becomes a canvas for creativity and a vessel for change.

"In the Konkan, we say the coconut feeds you, shelters you, and now — through our craft — it adorns you."

— House of Coconut Founders

Our Journey

How It All Began

Heritage

Rooted in Konkan Tradition

For generations, the people of Guhagar have lived alongside the coconut palm — the Kalpavriksha. Nearly every part of this miraculous tree finds purpose in daily life.

Discovery

Seeing Value in Waste

We noticed thousands of coconut shells discarded at local oil mills and copra units. What if these could become something beautiful instead of filling landfills?

Craft

Empowering Local Artisans

We partnered with skilled craftspeople across the Konkan coast, providing them training, tools, and fair wages to transform shells into art.

Today

House of Coconut

Today, we ship handcrafted, eco-friendly coconut shell products to homes across India and around the world — each piece a bridge between tradition and sustainability.
